Description

Explore Color and Watercolor with Beatriz Seijo

Mastering this painting technique is one of the most rewarding challenges for any artist. Unlike other disciplines, watercolor requires a perfect balance between technical control and acceptance of chance. In this on-site course, we will teach you to work with the white of the paper as the main light source and to understand how water behaves when it comes into contact with the pigment.

The importance of applied color theory

Learning color and watercolor Beatriz Seijo is not just about painting, but about understanding how tones are mixed to avoid opaque results. During the workshop, we will take an in-depth look at:

  • The color wheel: Primary, secondary and complementary mixes to create vibrant shadows.

  • Transparency: How to work in layers or glazes without losing the luminosity of the support.

  • Water control: You will learn the humidity states of the paper to know exactly when to apply the stroke.

Methodology and technique in the workshop

Under the direct guidance of the artist, the sessions are developed through practical exercises that range from the study of the landscape to the expressive stain. The approach is completely personalized, allowing each student to discover their own style, whether it’s more detailed or more atmospheric and free-flowing.

Detailed syllabus of the Beatriz Seijo color and watercolor course

To ensure solid evolution, the program includes:

  • Wet and dry techniques: Mastery of “wet on wet” and dry brush for textures.

  • Reserves and blanks: Use of reserve liquids and respect for paper for highlights.

  • Composition and depth: How to create distance planes by using cold and warm color.

  • Physical mixes vs. optics:Understand how the layering of pigments creates new visual dimensions.

About teaching academia

Beatriz Seijo contributes her expert vision, helping students lose their fear of the stain. Its pedagogical approach seeks to ensure that the student not only copies, but also understands the chemistry of materials and the physics of water, ensuring that the art of watercolor becomes a fluid, professional and lively means of expression.

Registration in our monthly disciplines ( Ceramics, Painting and Kids’ Creativity ) implies acceptance of these conditions, designed to guarantee the pedagogical quality and sustainability of our groups.

1. Enrolment and seat reservation

  • Registration and erolment: To guarantee your seat, it is required to pay the registration fee (a one-off payment of €50.00) and the first monthly instalment for the chosen course in advance.

  • Continuity: You will not be required to pay the enrolment fee again as long as you retain your place without interruption. In the event of voluntary withdrawal, any future re-enrolment will be subject to payment of the current enrolment fee.

  • Flexible Enrollment: If you join a group after the course has already started, you will be charged the registration fee and a pro-rata share of the remaining monthly fee, or the full monthly fee if you join at the start of the monthly period.

  • Cycle Renewal: Students who complete the school year and wish to continue in the next cycle will be exempt from paying enrolment fees.

  • Mobility: You can request a change of group or discipline during the year at no additional cost, as long as there are vacancies.

  • Priority Enrollment: At the end of the school year, we open a priority booking period for the following academic year. To confirm your seat, you will be required to pay the first monthly fee for the new course in advance.

2. Monthly Payments and Commitment to Attendance

  • Guaranteed Place: Monthly payments must be paid in full within the first 5 days of each month. As your place is reserved exclusively for you, the fee must be paid regardless of any occasional absences.

  • Management of Non-Payments: Failure to pay the monthly fee by the specified deadline will result in the automatic loss of your place and your removal from the workshop.

3. Cancellation and Unsubscription Policy

  • Early Cancellation: If you decide not to start the course after booking, you may request a Workshop Voucher for the amount of the monthly fee paid, provided you give at least 7 calendar days’ notice. The registration fee is non-refundable.

  • Voluntary Cancellation: To formalise a permanent cancellation, you must notify us before the 20th of the current month. Cancellations notified on or after the 21st will take effect the following month, meaning the full monthly fee for that month must be paid.

4. Organizational and Coexistence Commitments

  • Group Viability: The running of workshops is subject to a minimum number of participants. If this minimum is not reached, the school will refund 100% of the fees paid (enrolment fee and course fee).

  • Relocation due to Cancellation: If an existing group falls below the minimum number of students required for it to continue, students will be offered a seat on alternative timetables. If this is not possible or the student is not interested, a technical cancellation will be made without penalty and all charges will be stopped.

  • Right of Admission: To maintain a creative, safe and respectful working environment, the management reserves the right of admission. Any behaviour that seriously disrupts the harmony of the group will result in immediate expulsion without entitlement to a refund.

1. I have never painted or drawn, can I start from scratch?

Absolutely yes! We have a specific program designed for people who have never picked up a brush or pencil. Learning correctly from the base is the best way to advance quickly and avoid technical vices. You don’t need experience, just the desire to start.

The only way not to advance in painting is not to decide to take the first brush stroke.

2. I have painted on my own, how do I know what my level is?

In the workshop we do not work with watertight levels. The teacher observes your technique and knowledge from day one and proposes a learning process designed exclusively for you. We accompany you from wherever you are so that you continue to evolve at your own pace.

3. What materials do I have to bring to class?

The teachers will tell you what specific materials you need depending on the technique you want to develop. But don’t worry: you’ll start little by little. You will be surprised how simple the basic equipment is to start your training. These materials are not included in the tuition and/or monthly fees.

4. Can I buy the materials in the workshop?

Yes, we offer “Materials Packages” specific for the painting course. The advantage is that you save time and are sure that they are the correct and quality materials, avoiding the confusion generated by the wide variety of brands on the market. Of course, you also have the freedom to buy them wherever you prefer.

5. Can I leave my materials in the studio?

Yes. Most students prefer to leave their material in the workshop so as not to carry it with them and, above all, to avoid forgetting it at home on the day of class.

6. Is healthy paint used in the workshop?

For us, your health comes first. We select paints that have the ACMI certification (AP Seal). This means that they are toxicologically evaluated products that do not release harmful substances for you or the environment. Nurture your art with safe materials.

7. Can I join if the month has already started?

Of course. Any time of the year is perfect to start. If you join after the first class of the month, the fee will be adjusted proportionally to the number of sessions you attend in that starting month.

8. Can classes be made up if I miss a day?

Yes, as long as the class is cancelled in advance. We have a system for managing absences and make-ups so you don’t lose your learning rythm due to unforeseen circumstances. Any class cancelled on time will be saved so you can make it up another day within the available schedule for each activity.

9. Do you do activities outside the studio?

As part of our annual activity, we usually schedule visits to museums or exhibitions. We come with our notebooks to generate dialogue about the works and enjoy the artistic experience in community.
